Ugandan designer Latif Kasumba is among the very few designers from Africa invited to showcase at the first Africa Nordic Fashion & Cultural expo in Sweden.
According to its organizers, ANFCE is intended to encourage cultural integration through Fashion and Art, but also provide a platform for different fashion designer to showcase their work to an estimated crowd between 600 to 800 people, including major fashion houses, dignitaries, stakeholders and different business owners and investors.
The expo is scheduled for June 1, 2019 at Clarion Hotel in Malmö, Sweden featuring designers, artists and dancers.
Latif Kasumba is known for his fast sewing skills in what he calls Fast Fashion where he dresses live on stage in minutes. Kasumba is also the president of the Uganda Fashion Society.
Besides Latif Kasumba, other invited designers include Chemutai Beatrice, a Kenyan based in Sweden, Berthe Shcroer from Cameroon, Maria Clara Neto Andersson and Beto Kelner under their Brand Gatos De Rua, Oona Ritari from Finland, Nanny Karlsson, Patience Kuteh, a Liberian living in Norway and Mercy Levin from Ghana living in Sweden.
