If you were in Uganda between January and July 2018, today you would wonder what happened to the Braian White Foundation.
The entire first half of the year 2018 was dominated by news of Brian White and his foundation activities. Many celebrities, especially artists aligned themselves with the Brian White Foundation. Among other reasons, the foundation paid very well.
Other celebrities such as TV presenters and comedians did not miss the opportunity to do charity and rip big in return.
Most notable names included Weasel, Jose Chameleone, King Michael, Lady Mariam, Madrat and Chicko, Big Eye, Miles Rwamiti, Zahara Toto, Anatalia Ozi and many more.
Briana White received daily news coverage and in a very bad week he would be covered at least twice. He dominated the entertainment news sector of almost all popular stations.
The big question today is; What happened to Brian White?
Well, our guess is as good as yours. However, some media experts have given two reasons for the sudden disappearance of Brian White.
Bobi Wine turned politician
The Brian White Foundation decline in popularity started when Bobi Wine became a politician and member of parliament. However, the last nail in the coffin came after the Arua saga which saw Bobi Wine detained by the military, sparkling demonstration all over Uganda and across the world.
The media coverage switched to Bobi Wine, killing all other topics. The Brian White Foundation is a charity organization but it was always reported among entertainment news. This was mainly because of the celebrity status of Brian White, a socialite.
After August 2018, the foundation and its founder started getting less and less coverage. The artists with whom Brian White had contracts were also slowly and quietly released.
The entertainment industry got divided on political lines with majority celebrities sympathizing with Bobi Wine. It was during this time that Bebe Cool was hit with bottles on stage at Lugogo.
Brian White became an NRM supporter
To make matters worse, Brian White, who had previously been neutral, started identifying as an NRM supporter. He adopted the yellow NRM beret which has Museveni’s picture.
Today, the foundation still does some work on a much small scale but it receives very little news coverage. Brian White is also in Uganda but you wouldn’t know as all cameras shifted away from him.
