The Sweet Love single that Vinka did with dancehall singer John Blaq was originally a collabo with Winnie Nwagi but Vinka hijacked it.
According to close sources to Swangz Avenue politics, WInnie Nwagi personally found the young John Blaq, appreciated his style and took him to Swangz Avenue. Winnie Nwagi wanted his bosses to fund a collabo with her and John Blaq.
When Swangz Avenue saw what John Blaq could do, they told WInnie Nwagi to hold on as they make arrangements for the recording. During that time, Swangz Avenue instead pushed for a collaboration between Vinka and John Blaq instead. It was during this time that the two recorded Sweet Love which went on to perform well.
Winnie Nwagi was furious on learning about the betrayal by his bosses. She is said to have threatened to quit the label if they dint give her enough support as they were giving Vinka.
Nwagi Collabo with Slim Prince
Swangz Avenue management is said to have calmed Nwagi down and promised her a collabo with a big artist. It was during this time that Swangz secured a collabo with Slim Prince. The two did Fire Dancer together, which also performed so well across east Africa.
It is said that up to date Winnie Nwagi is unhappy with the way the label has sidelined her in favor of Vinka. The singer has also given several ultimatums and made demand that must be fulfiled if she is to stay on the label.
