John Kasadha, popularly known by his stage name John Blaq, is a Ugandan Afro-dancehall and ragga recording artist and song writer.
Background and education
John Blaq was born in Jinja district in eastern Uganda. He went to Lwanda Primary School from P1 to P5.
After P6, the young John Blaq moved to Kampala to stay with his uncle. He says that initially the plan was to spend the Christmas holiday in Kampala and go back to school in Jinja. When he stayed in Kampala for a few weeks, he was excited and asked his uncle to convince John Blaq’s grandma to allow him to study in Kampala.
John Blaq joined Hassan Turabi Primary School in Bweyogere for P6 to P7. he completed his primary there.
After primary, Blaq joined Bweyogere Secondary School from S1 to S6. He completed his high school in 2017.
Rise to fame
Blaq broke through in 2018 with his single called Tukwatagane. His unique vocals and urban dancehall beats distinguishing him from all other Ugandan artists made him popular to music lovers.
After Tukwatagane, Blaq released several other singles before the end of 2018, including Obubadi, Sweet Love (Featuring Vinka) and others.
He ushered 2019 with new music and collaborations from artists including, VIP Jemo By the early 2019, Blaq was one of the hottest Ugandan artists with over 5 songs in the top 10 most downloaded list across top music websites.

John Blaq won the Male Artist To Watch 2019 in the HiPipo Music Awards 2019 on March 16, 2019.
He is nominated 4 times in the Galaxy FM’s Zzina Awards 2019 including for Male Artist of The Year, Breakout Artist, Best Male Artist and Best Dancehall Artist.
