Spice Diana must have set her target of becoming Uganda’s top female artist, if not overall, a couple of years back. Ever since, she has been silently working to achieve that and she is almost there.
Since her humble beginnings in 2013, Spice has positioned herself as the artist that a family would listen, watch on TV and come to see in a show. This seems to be paying off just well. Her fan base is so diverse that she will have a grandmother, mother and daughter happily dancing to her music. In the same time, she peals to the young boys and men too.
Rising To The Top
While Sheebah and Cindy have been beefing for the last few years, Diana has been making music, building a brand. She was careful enough to avoid taking sides while the giants clashed. She also avoided the music industry beef drama. While we all kept our eyes on the ‘big artists’, Spice Diana was rising.
Since 2018, the early signs of a rising young start loved by all were clear, as we mentioned in our article. By 2019 she was the most steadily rising and trending name in the industry. From consistent music release to great music videos and performances, Spice Diana was everywhere.
Today, Diana is among the few artists that did not just survive the COVID-19 pandemic but thrived through it. Her endorsements bear big brands like Lato, Chipper, iTel and Jumia.
When it comes to social media following, she is the second most followed female artist on Instagram with over one million followers. She will be overtaking Sheba in about a month to become the most followed diva.
Having tightened her grip on the local industry, she is looking to go regional now. She is in touch in Kenya with Rosa Ree, Mbosso and lately in Tanzania with Diamond Platnumz and Harmonize.
